African Children's Schools has received approval from the IRS to receive tax deductible donations under the IRC Section 501 (c)(3). We have been granted public charity status with EIN 81-1490071. Our California Corporation Number is 3873469 .
In 2008 we started working in Cradock, South Africa, where we have been involved in an educational center for about 150 children who have been affected by HIV. They either have the infection themselves or have been made orphans because of it. We educate, feed, clothe and transport the children to our center at the Cradock Hospice. We are starting a college scholarship fund as well to send students to Port Elizabeth University. We have much work left to do.
In 2012 we started building schools in Ethiopia in mostly Muslim areas, where the children had previously been taught under a tree. We built in Bui, Fonko, Halaba, Shashememe, Bale Roba and Bale Goba and Dinsho. The community leaders welcomed our help with educating the youngest of their children and supplying teachers and educational materials. We also began work with Hanna's Orphanage in Addis Ababa and sponsor two houses of children there. Later in 2015, we traveled to the Omo Valley and have built ten schools there as well, among the different tribes of that area. We went to Jinka, Arba Minch, Omerate, Key Afar, Demeke, Alduba and Wolto. At the end of 2016 we traveled east to the border of Somaliland where we have built six new schools. We have started a prison school in Harar now. We also drove up to Lake Tana and Gondar region and have started a school there as well. Our vision is to build many more schools throughout all of Ethiopia.
